Hours for Ours
As we plan for this coming year, we invite everyone to consider volunteering at St. John School. There are a wide variety of volunteering opportunities and areas where your expertise and experience can be used. Moreover, studies show that parental involvement in a child’s education is one of the most critical factors in raising student self-esteem and academic achievement. We realize, however, that each of our families is unique – with its priorities, needs, talents, and time constraints – and so we try to provide as many opportunities for parental involvement as possible.
Volunteering is a beautiful way to help support St. John School. We understand that finding the time can be difficult. The PTO and the school have many volunteer opportunities available to help you fulfill your commitment to the students of St. John School.
Policies for Parent Volunteers
As part of the diocesan initiative to maintain a safe environment for our children, all volunteers with “substantial contact” with children must complete a background check and VIRTUS training before working in the school. This includes parents who wish to attend field trips or volunteer to support classroom activities. Parents are encouraged to complete the online application process promptly.
Please use the checklist in the Application Process file below to gather information before beginning the application process to assist you and ensure this is a quick process.
